What it is like to be a student at Christ College…

Life at Christ College is good because at our school there is a caring Christian atmosphere which means that everyone is equal and no one is judged and you can go to anyone with a problem and they will help you the best they can. The staff are friendly and approachable which means if you are uncomfortable or unable to do the work, you feel you can go to them for help as they always want every student to achieve their best.

There are lots of good opportunities at Christ College as there is a wide range of after school clubs which include: sports clubs, homework clubs, singing clubs and drama which works towards a play in January of every year. You can go for extra curricular English and Maths if you feel you need help or are struggling; all of these try to make your time at Christ College the most enjoyable as possible.

At Christ College we have access to the following facilities:

• Sports hall – The sports hall was recently built and is of very high quality and this is where most of our indoor sports activities take place. For example basketball, trampolining, indoor cricket where we have bowling machines, badminton, indoor football etc.

• Astro-turf – This is probably one of the most used facilities at our school and is open to all students, like the sports hall, at lunch times. This is where most of the outdoor actives happen. For example football, cricket, la crosse, etc.

• Tennis courts – The tennis courts are separate from the other facilities and are not only committed to tennis use, as when the other facilities are being used we can use the courts for other activities.

• 2 Fields – These are mainly used for rugby and football in the winter and one of these is used for athletics training in the summer ready for sports day.

• Hall – The hall is not only used for sport but also for assemblies and things like awards evenings and talent shows.

• Gym – The gym is where we do things like boxercise and dodge ball.

• Science Labs – The science labs have recently been refurbished with state of the art facilities to bring teaching science into the 21st century.

• ICT suites – There are six ICT suites, one of which is currently being refitted to make it even better and are where all ICT lessons take place.

• Library – You can rent out books here and can also use the computers for homework and at lunch and break times if you need to.

• Cafeteria – You can get hot or cold meals and there is a lot of choice, as well as it being healthy which is a lot better for you.

• Drama studio – The drama studio is used for auditions for roles in plays and is also where the cast can practice.

• DT Workshops – The DT workshops are used for food technology, woodwork and metalwork lessons.

It feels good to be a student at Christ College, mainly because there are lots of activities for all pupils to get involved in. You should try these because it will make your time at Christ College much more enjoyable.

Why should young people consider Christ College as a good place to come for their education?

We think that young people should consider Christ College as a good choice for their education because people who go there will find it enjoyable and will be able to work well in the environment and get good grades. The new BFL (Behaviour for Learning) system has generally improved behaviour at our school and this means that disruptive students are dealt with promptly allowing others to get on without distraction.
