Safeguarding all our futures
Protecting the environment we live in is important, not just for us, but for future generations too. For our business it also helps reduce waste consumption, save money and increases our efficiency.
Keeping our promises
In our 2008 report, we promised to create an environmental policy. We have now done so. It sets out what we want to achieve and how we're going to achieve it. Here is a summary of our policy:
What we want to achieve, our environmental principles:
- reduce energy consumption. We will reduce our energy consumption
- reduce travel. We will reduce business travel by car to essential journeys only, encourage staff to car share on business trips and use alternative forms of transport whenever possible
- reduce our carbon footprint. We are already reducing our carbon footprint and will help our staff and members to do the same.
- reduce waste. We will reduce waste by recycling and reusing waste material, and use recycled materials and facilities whenever possible
- minimise water use. We will reduce the amount of water used and maximise the use of water harvesting in our operations
- reduce consumption. We will reduce the amount of material such as paper, stationery and other office supplies we consume in carrying out our normal business operations
- help others to understand the impact of business on the environment. We will encourage everyone who does business with us to follow our example and guidelines
- incorporate these guidelines into the daily operations of the business. We will ensure that the environmental impact of our business is recognised as an important part of our decision making and corporate planning
- environmental awareness. We will help and encourage our staff and members to become more aware of the need to be environmentally responsible.
We will use the policy to encourage everyone who does business with us to follow our example and guidelines and also to help our staff and customers to be environmentally responsible.
